Announcements

September is Global Missions month at HERITAGE. Throughout the entire month, we are collecting money for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship's Global Missions offering. This offering supports CBF field personnel (missionaries) in the U.S. and all over the world. Our goal this year is to give $2500. Look for specially marked envelopes in the pew racks and in the sanctuary foyer. Join us in helping to spread the Good News everywhere!

The Nominating Committee is seeking recommendations for people to serve on the following committees: Building & Grounds (1 position), Education Committee (3 positions), Personnel Committee (1 position), Finance Committee (2 positions), and Nominating Committee (1 position). Please email the church office with your recommendations or look for the forms in the sanctuary foyer and the fellowship hall. A list of current committee members is available from the church. We will vote on new committee members at the called church conference on Sunday, September 20.

"Project Backpack" is back! HERITAGE provides backpacks full of food for children at Hasty Elementary School who might otherwise go hungry on weekends. Each backpack contains enough food for two breakfasts, two lunches, three dinners, and snacks. We are always grateful for donations of food or money to keep this ministry going. We especially need Hormel Compleats, fruit cups/fruit snacks, salty snacks, sweet snacks, soup, small cans of vegetables, and single-serving breakfast foods. We cannot take glass containers or juice boxes. Look for collection bins in the fellowship hall.

Heritage Game Day will be held in the Fellowship Hall on Thursday, September 3, at 11:30 AM. The hosts will provide turkey; please bring sides and dessert. This time, we'll have four tables set up with a different game at each one. Invite a friend!

Wednesday Fellowship Meals will resume their regular schedule on Wednesday, September 9. We have lunch at 11:30 and supper at 5:30, both followed by a time of prayer and Bible study. Please fill out a reservation card or contact the church office if you plan to come for a meal. If you have previously been  on the "permanent list" for lunch or supper reservations, please let the church office know if you want to be on that list again.

We will celebrate our 21st church anniversary on Sunday, September 13, with a special worship service and a pot-luck lunch. Frank Broome, Executive Coordinator for the Cooperative Baptist Fellowship of Georgia, will be our guest speaker. At lunch, the church will provide chicken; please bring sides and/or dessert to share. Join us for a joyful day of thanksgiving and fellowship!

Goodfellas and Laughin' Ladies are our monthly fellowship gatherings for any "fellas" and ladies who'd like to enjoy each other's company around the breakfast table. We meet at Cracker Barrel at 9:00 AM on the third Tuesday of each month. The next gathering will be on Tuesday, September 15. All are welcome!

We will hold a called church conference after worship on Sunday, September 20, to vote on the proposal from the Strategic Planning Team and the slate of committee nominations from the Nominating Committee. The Strategic Planning Team initially presented its proposal on August 19. Three listening sessions have followed, giving the congregation the opportunity to ask questions and provide feedback. The Team is now working to compile a list of questions raised at the listening sessions to make available to the entire congregation. Look for that list in your email inbox or at the church soon. Copies of the report and proposal are also available at the church.

The "Adventure Club" is planning three upcoming trips! We will visit the Panorama apple house in Ellijay and have lunch at the Woodbridge Inn on Tuesday, September 22. Please sign up (look for a sign-up sheet at church or contact the church office) no later than September 16 so that we can make reservations. We will take a ride on the Blue Ridge Scenic Railway on Thursday, October 22. Please sign up and pay for your train ticket in advance by Sunday, September 13. (Ticket prices are $48.15 for seniors and $53.50 for adults under age 65; please make checks out to the church.) In November (date TBA), we will check out the "Searching for the Queen of Sheba" exhibit at the Fernbank Museum. All are welcome to join us on our adventures!
