Welcome to REST, the midweek prayer and communion service of HERITAGE Fellowship. Our goal is to provide a quiet place of respite and refuge from the noise of the world—a place where you can pray or read or just sit silently and be.
Let this place be your space to disengage from busyness and stress. Let these minutes be an excuse to disconnect from burden and worry.
Beginning at 6:30 on the first Wednesday of each month, our sanctuary is open for quiet prayer, reflection, meditation and rest. You’ll hear music designed to facilitate prayer and mindfulness. And, if you’d like some guidance on how to spend your time, our prayer booklet offers a few suggestions for how you might pray.
You may choose to follow our order of written prayer. It’s designed to guide you through selections of scripture and a collection of prayers from across the Christian tradition. You probably won’t get all the way through the entire order in one evening. Don’t rush. Come back next week, or take the prayer guide home with you.
You may also choose to use a Bible from the pew rack to prayerfully read scripture. You might start with the Psalms. Christians have been praying through the Book of Psalms for thousands of years. Find a psalm that speaks to you and read it over and over again. You may find power in the repetition.
And, you’ll also find our prayer list when you come to REST. We keep a list of people to pray for at HERITAGE. There’s power in praying for people by name, even if you don’t know them, or know their particular need.
Or, you may pray silently as your heart leads you—for family and friends, for yourself, for this church, for our world.
Or read a book.
Or just sit quietly and REST.
Join us on the first Wednesday of the month at 6:30 for music, prayer, communion and REST.
