“Please mind the gap.”
If you’ve ever ridden the trains in England, you’ve heard that familiar warning. But Jesus also told a story about a gap—a chasm between a rich man and a poor man named Lazarus.
In this sermon, Pastor Justin Bishop explores Luke 16:19–31 and the hard truth of this parable: the gap between comfort and suffering, between seeing and ignoring, between heaven and hell. Too often, we’ve taken the flames literally but ignored the part about caring for the poor.
What if “minding the gap” isn’t just about caution—but about awareness? About seeing the people God places at our gate, and stepping into the gap with the love of Christ?
