The Scars We Carry, and the One Who Carries Us

📖 John 20:19–31

What do we do with the scars we carry?

In this message from John’s Gospel, we step into that locked room with the disciples—afraid, uncertain, and unsure what comes next—and encounter the risen Christ who still bears the marks of the cross.

When Thomas asks to see the wounds, he’s not just looking for proof that Jesus is alive. He’s looking for assurance that the one who stands before him is the same one who suffered. And in that moment, we discover something surprising:

Resurrection does not erase the wounds.

It transforms them.

This sermon explores what it means to move from doubt to trust, why the scars of Christ matter, and how faith is less about having everything figured out and more about learning to lean our lives on the One who meets us where we are.

🎶 The service concludes with a reflective song, The Hand Song by Nickel Creek, offering a moving meditation on the marks love leaves behind.
