In the digital world you can spend a lot of time updating your status--checking in, telling people how you feel, what you’ve done, what you’re doing next, where you are, where you’ve been, where you’re going, even what your hopes and dreams are.

The new year is a good time for a status update. It’s a good time to reflect on where we’ve been and what we’ve done in the past year. And it’s a good time to think about what we’ll do in the next year.

At HERITAGE, we’re doing exactly that this January, and we’re using Christ as our model for who we’d like to be in 2016. In Philippians, Paul tells us that even though Christ had a status equal with God, he didn’t cling so tightly to that status that he couldn’t identify with us. So whatever your status is, Christ knows what it’s like.

And, even more importantly, because Christ was willing to take on our status we have the opportunity to take on Christ’s status as children of God.  As we start the new year, we'll reflect on where we've been and dream about where we're going. And we’ll look at what it means to be more like Christ so that we can be people who make our community look more like God’s kingdom.

We hope you’ll join us as we do it. We worship each Sunday at 11.

See you then.
